Be a Manager
Location: Asian Civilisation Museum
Event: Neither East nor West; Asians in Monochrome
Date: 23rd October 2008 to 1st February 2009
Objective:
the objectives of the event is to allow people to understand more about the different races and ethnics which makes Singapore a multi religious country. Asian civilisation museum promotes a better understanding and appreciation of the culture which make Singapore a mix of all the different races. It shows the difference in race, religion and cross culture among the people from the east and the west who comes into Singapore and live peacefully.
Target Audience:
The target audience is the general public. The Asian Civilisation Museum's main target audience is the general public thus this event tries to attract the general public to educate them further on the East meets West in Singapore.
How is the event publicized?
Banners are placed along the Asian Civilisation Museum to publicise the events to those walking along the areas.Banners are placed on buildings and places near Esplanade, Pamphlets are placed at Community Centres to publicize more about the event to the public. the Asian civilisation museum will provide more information on the different events happening there.
Media Coverage
The media do not cover the event. Most probably because its for a long period of time and thus the media would not have a proper coverage of the event as there will be not much crowd due to the long period. The museum holds many events and thus if this event is covered, other events should also be covered.
The Asian Civilisation Museum can attract more people by sending representative to different schools to talk more about the museum and the events happening at the museum to attract students. Emphasize on the lost admission fees for students too.
Setting up a carnival or giving away freebies to attract people will also help.
Success
The event is not very successful as there were not much people visiting the museum on the day i went. Maybe its because of a weekday or maybe its because of the public being unaware of the museum's event.
being the manager, i would have more publicity for the event. I would call reporters in to have more coverage for the event and attract more people. Having maybe a carnival outside the museum as an introduction to the event being held will attract more visitor to the country.
More banners can be placed around Singapore and not just only the area near the museum to attract people.
im having problems uploading pictures. will upload soon.
